Run LockDown Browser in a Cloud Desktop

Respondus LockDown Browser tries to block virtual machines — so we tuned ours to look like an ordinary PC. Take the locked exam inside a browser tab while your real computer stays wide open.

What is LockDown Browser?

Respondus LockDown Browser is a custom browser used by schools and colleges to secure online exams inside Canvas, Blackboard, Moodle, D2L Brightspace, and Schoology. Once an exam requires it, you cannot open new tabs, switch apps, copy or paste, print, or screenshot — and it actively tries to detect virtual machines, refusing to start if it thinks it is running inside one.

The School Cheats cloud desktop (vm.schoolcheats.net) is a full Windows 11 computer that runs in a browser tab. You install and run LockDown Browser inside that desktop instead of on your own laptop. The hardware it reports — BIOS, CPU, and motherboard — is tuned to look like an ordinary physical machine, so LockDown Browser’s virtual-machine checks pass and the exam opens normally.

Because the whole exam is sealed inside that one tab, your real computer stays completely free. LockDown Browser can only see its own window, so on your actual machine you keep School Cheats, notes, and a second browser open the entire time. Your real webcam and microphone pass through into the desktop, so if Respondus Monitor is enabled its face and audio check still works.

How School Cheats helps with LockDown Browser

Built to work alongside the lockdown — not against it.

Runs Inside the Cloud Desktop

Install and launch LockDown Browser inside a Windows 11 desktop in your browser tab — nothing touches your own laptop.

Hardware That Looks Real

The desktop’s BIOS, CPU, and board are spoofed to look like an ordinary PC, so LockDown Browser’s VM detection never trips.

Your Real PC Stays Free

The exam is locked inside the tab. On your actual computer, School Cheats, notes, and a second browser stay open the whole time.

Webcam & Mic Passthrough

Your real camera and microphone pass into the desktop, so a Respondus Monitor face and audio check-in still passes.

Two-Way Clipboard

Copy an answer on your computer and paste it straight into the locked exam inside the desktop.

Wipes Clean Every Session

The desktop resets to a fresh Windows install the moment your session ends — no trace left on your device.

How it works

Four simple steps to answers on any LockDown Browser exam.

1

Launch the cloud desktop

Go to vm.schoolcheats.net and start a 1–2 hour session. A full Windows 11 computer opens right in your browser tab.

2

Install LockDown Browser inside it

Download and open LockDown Browser within the desktop exactly as your school instructs. The spoofed hardware means it starts without any VM error.

3

Keep answers on your real screen

Outside the tab your own computer is untouched — open School Cheats and your notes to look anything up.

4

Take the exam and disconnect

Your webcam passes through for any face check. When you finish, the desktop wipes itself back to a clean state automatically.
